Why do You Run?

Why do you run, when you’re going in the wrong direction?
Where is the fun, if you’re sowing seeds of mis-selection?
How do you know if you’re being all you’re meant to be?
Where should you go? See me,
I’ll show the way there now-ow-ow-ow-ow.

Please, please slow down, you’re gonna trip, you’re gonna loss control,
Look, look around, and see the blip in your cruise control,
Sit, back and relax, go too fast, and you’re back at home.
Make, make it last, make it good, make it free to roam.

You’ve got the rest of you’re life,
so please don’t mess it now.

You’ve shot a crest in a knife,
Don’t you go press it down.

Why do you run, when you’re going in the wrong direction?
What is the fun, if you’re sowing seeds of mis-selection?
How do you know? Are you being all you’re meant to be?
Where should you go? See me,
I’ll show the way there now-ow-ow-ow-ow.

Slow up, Slowing down
See the ground, see you’re firmly planted.

Grow up, making sound
Lost your found in the crowd enchanted.

Go up, gaining ground
Look around, see the slope is slanted.

So up, yet so down,
Yet you’re bound to be took for granted.

Why do you run, when you’re going in the wrong direction?
How is it fun, if you’re sowing seeds of mis-selection?
How do you know when you’re being all you’re meant to be?
Where should you go? See me,
I’ll show the way there now-ow-ow-ow-ow.

From part three of my rock opera. Lacking a 3rd+ verse, but I wanted to get it out there.

Actually, the Chorus was originally the 1st verse, but I suck at writing choruses and this was as good as I was going to get.
I'm a pianist and a poet,
and someday the world will know it
But until then all that I can do
is play my songs for you.
