I am looking for an acoustic guitar, that looks cool, and sounds good playing a variety of different types of music. I also need it to have an output jack to plug into an amp. I would also like for it to have a cut away neck like on an electric so that i can play really high notes. I like Epiphones, Gibsons, and Martins, but i am open to any new ideas. my price range is from around 400-600 dollars. Any suggestions would be helpful!
thanks

for $700 or so you can get a martin DCX1E which are pretty nice for acoustic, i've never been able to try one plugged in though

If you can, hunt down a cheap martin.

...i've never played on an electro-acoustic one though so i dont know what the sound is like through an amp.

a sweet acoustic guitar for the price is a Cort, but i'm not sure the model number. its an electric/acoustic, it has a single cut-away and built-in tuner as well. i paid $550.00 at the local music shop, and that included a hard-shell case! its a really good guitar for the price.

After a mindboggling 3-hour Steve Vai concert, I had to listen to some brainless guitar playing... so I put on Nevermind...

I've got the SFX-6R and it's a great sounding guitar (Cost me £300). Highly recommend it. You'll find that Yamaha's, Seaguls etc all produce good guitars around that price range. Avoid low end Martin's...they're overpriced for what you would get (I think a lot of 'em use that HPL nonsense. In short, its extremely low grade material sold for extortionate prices. There are a plethora of threads on this issue around here).
Current Equipment:
Acoustic: Cort SFX6R.
Electric Guitars: Fender American Standard Strat, Epiphone Les Paul.
Effects Pedals: Crybaby Wah, Boss OD-3.

In the Pipe-line...
Fender Blues Jnr.
Tube Screamer TS-808.
Boss BD-2.

steer clear of the Martin X series. Try to find solid woods, or at least a quality laminate. Martin's HPL crap is neither.
Sincerely, Chad.
