My thoughts exactly.

Yes that would be wrong because even if you were an adult when you put them on the internet, you are still a kid in the pictures, which would make them illegal.

Is it illegal if an old perv jacks off to a picture of himself as a baby naked in a bathtub?
#13
Not only is it wrong, but the fact they would wait till they were an adult is worse.

Yes because at the time the photo was taken, they were underage.

That be like saying a guy that has child porn pictures of someone who is now 30 is not breaking the law because the person in the photos is now an adult.

Really, if ya think about it he can do whatever he wants with pictures of himself, it's his body and he is an adult now. Now weather it is right or not is a whole different topic.
#23
I agree that it would likely still be illegal, but i don't know if it would hold up in court. Because while you were a child when the picture was taken, you'd be an adult, and therefore capable of making your own decisions.

the purpose of the laws against child pornography are to prevent the exploitation of children. Technically, there would be no such exploitation, because the "child" exploited, is now old enough to decide if they were exploited or not....

Not any personal experience, I just spent a lot of time thinking about really strange scenarios.

My friend sez no because one of the issues with CP is that because the child in question OBVIOUSLY can't make a rational decision for themselves (I don't believe everyone under 21 is stupid, but that's just the law, so I roll with it) but if the child is the one taking the pictures (because anyone else doing it is illegal) and then later in life, with the reasoning capabilities of an adult, wanted to publicize said pictures, how would it be wrong? Considering that sexual assault and all that fun stuff can really screw with a kids head, but if it's the kid alone it wouldn't seem to make a difference, and then being an adult...

It would be illegal to take a pornographic picture of an underage person (even yourself) in the first place, nevermind putting it online.

Ofcourse, that's just the law. Whether it would be "right" or "wrong" is a whole different discussion :p

And this is my first post. Hi, everyone

A decent first post, welcome

But I don't think it's the actual picture taking that is illegal (you took it), but the placing of it in a public location.

Wasn't there a dilema a while ago where two underage kids had taken naked pictures of themselves and sent them to one another? I'll give it a google, see if I can find it. (the story, not the pictures. lol)

Along the same reasoning, many families have silly naked baby pictures, or funny pictures of a naked 4 year old sweeping the bathroom, etc... Are these illegal to posess?

I don't know

But they sent it to someone else, that's where the illegal part happens. I think it's ok if you take a picture of yourself naked and keep it, never showing anyone.

Well... what if a kid took naked pictures of himself, then, as an adult, masturbated while looking at them?

Think about that one.

No, the only real reason for making underage child pictures illegal over the internet is so that the pedo's can't get them and go kidnap/kill/rape them.

The intent and the letter of the law are often different. I agree that the intent of the law is to prevent exploitation, but technically, it still might be illegal.....

Well, even if it was, why would you post naked pics of your young self? Seems like an impossible scenario.

In that case I think it's the general understanding of the law. Trying someone in court based on "silly bathtub pics" will be thrown out faster than used christmas wrapping.
