Do they exist? Are they any good? I saw one on an ad on this site, but it was just a generic bass guitar ad.
#2
yeah there real. Gretcsh has some, Gibson makes a few EB 350's, but the most BAD ASS( and expensive) would be a Warwick infinity. tehy are real, just less common.

Yea, but there usually uncommon because the only ones that dont suck are really expensive. In general, they move a lot of mids, which is great if your George Harrison, but most of us arent looking for that mid heavy sound, and youll probably have to EQ it out.

they tend to be short scale.
also, the famous Guild Starfire, premier acid rock bass favored by Jack Casady and Phil Lesh prior to Alembic, is good.
with active mods, it's amazing.

in my opinion anywho.

You all seem to forget the mighy grail of hollowbody basses. HOFNER.

check out all they videos on youtube
they dead serious about thuggin like that
if you ask me they are fruity
an i hope one morning they drown in there fruit loops

I think actives are unnecessary in a hollowbody bass - what I love about my Ibanez AGB is it's simplicity. I much prefer actives in solidbody basses, but with hollow or semi-hollow instruments I don't want to dial out the resonance that characterises them.

hollowbody basses produce beautifully warm tone. Lakland makes a really nice hollowbody. Eastwood also makes a really nice hollowbody for pretty cheap I think.

I played an Italia Rimini recently - they're pretty nice semi-hollow basses. I'm not a fan of the Spectorcore basses - they're nice players but pretty ugly and feel a bit fragile to me.

ugh. I hate Hofners. they feel bizarre, and all the ones I've played cut out when you use the on off switches.

treble on/off should turn off treble only. not everything for 1/2 second. it's annoying.

sorry I confused you, Indie.

I've been looking at Italia basses (as in pictures, not in person)

They look so pretty

They are pretty but you have to try them - they feel very different to other brands.
