Help guys. I'm going kinda nutty trying to figure out the tabs to the song "Five Steps" by the Davenports. They play it right at the end of the TV show Intervention and I can't figure out some parts. The song can be heard here, just click on "Five Steps" in the player ->

A HUGE thanks in advance!

Ack...this song really gets into my brain. Its so simple sounding yet has a great mood to it. Gonna keep my eye on this thread cuz I'd love to see the tabs too!

Even just the chords would be super sweet. I know there are dudes on here who could nail this simple song after just a few listens. Who's gonna step up and put an end to my torture?!

OK, I guess I'll have to offer some kind of monetary compensation to get the ball rolling with this one. Lets say....a MILLION DOLLARS?

Actually, I got someone to Facebook the writer of the song(cool!) and this is what he said...
believe it or not, i dont know all of the chords (by name). What i generally tell people is start by downtuning your A to a G (which you sort of pedal through the whole song), then configure an Amin7 around the 9th fret as your starting chord and it all starts to make sense.
thanks for the note

I'm a beginner, so I don't even know where to start with that. I know what an Amin7 chord is, but the downtuning part is throwing me. Anyone help dumb it down for me?

I highly recommend somebody spending their valuable time on this so myself and others can selfishly enjoy your hardwork and compassion?

can someone please figure this song out or just give us the names of the chords please, would be greatly appreciated

Ok... I was playing around last night and thought I'd learn this for a buddy that I'll be partying with this weekend. This is what I came up with:
Like stated above... standard A-440 tuning and drop A to G.
Reading left to right are the EGDGBE stings with frets stated. ? can be played open or you can try others. Plucking is also standard with 2&5,4,3,2,5or6 repeating pattern.
The chords:
x 0 9 7 8 x
x 0 7 ? 6 x
x 0 10 ? 10 x
x 0 6 5 6 x
x 0 3 0 3 x
x 0 2 0 1 x
x 0 2 0 1 x
x 0 4 0 3 x
x 0 5 0 0-3h 0 (several times)

rinse, repeat

I haven't figured the bridge part out yet. Some one can prolly figure this and then tab it please.

oh. and...

veins swell
you know me, ellen, enough to tell
five steps you're over

quick cut
make your move deliberate
five steps you're over

no reprimand
deliberate, demand
with your two feet at hand

get back
this train's a comin' down the track
five steps you're over

The bridge (for lack of more accurate termanology) couldn't be easier:

x5555x

x3333x

x0000x

x4444x

x5555x (2x)

x0656x

Plucking is 2&5,4,3,2,5or6,4,3 repeating pattern thoughout.
