Searched and only found something about saddest chords. So, what do you think is the most sad sounding riff in music?

Leif Erikson by Interpol is good

My friend wrote the saddest riff I have ever hear, based off the C major ??? I think perhaps its the A minor but the progreesion is C-E-C-D-E and the riff over it is quite moving.
(can record if you want to hear)

For girls it's like "here's Barbie...you're fat!"

Some killswitch riffs are pretty dam sad, but you can find sadness in many riffs from many bands.

couple of metallica ones, e.g fade to black.

Alexisonfire.

Alice in chains deffinatly. find songs about sad things and you are bound to find sad riffs, good start is opeth, some pantera: floods..holy ****.

Pink floyd. endless man.

EDIT: oh yeah and of course the greats, vai, satch, petrucci, **** yngwie off or whatever his name is. Listen to: for the love of god by Steve Vai.

I will put it up for a second but I dont want him to think I am stealing his songs lol.

Just FYI my friend is a way better player and i cant quite pull it off like he does but its the general concept/progression.

Oh damm...that was so beautiful and full of emotion and feel. Thanks for sharing. Tell your friend to continue to write like this. That was so heartfelt. God dam.

Just beautiful.

Btw what effects were those? they just topped it off. Again wonderful.

Any song in D minor. The piano part (if you'd call it a riff) from 'Lick my love pump' is as sad as it gets.

The opening guitar/harpischord bit in Aerosmith's "Dream On."
