Hey all. I've noticed recently a lot of nice 80's Squier Strats are up for sale on eBay. I had the chance of playing one in a guitar shop last week and would have bought it had it not been for the body having warped at some point due to heat and/or moisture. The neck was amazing on it, I'd say probably as good as most Fender Standard necks. It felt like the right guitar for me but I wasn't keen on having to replace the body, particularly when the same guitars are available on eBay in better condition.

So to cut to the chase, are 80's made Squiers as good as the current crop of Mexican Fenders? And body issues aside, was the Strat I played likely to be a good indicator of the quality of 80's Squiers or was it a one off?
