I'm starting to write a solo for a song I have that is in the key of Dm. What are some examples of songs that have solos in Dm, I'm not looking to copy solos, only take ideas from them.

Avenged Sevenfold, most of thier stuff is in D.

They also use alot of chromatic notes, that should give you some cool stuff to play around with!
I deeply regret the 6661 in my username. Siiiigh. Damn you, 14 year old me, you edgy little bastard.

I think all solos should be written in Dminor.
After all, it's the saddest of all keys.

True, true...

Well just about any song that's in Drop D is in Dm. Either way, Dm is just another key, nothing really special compared to other keys, so just play whatever you would in another key and just transpose it to Dm.

Yup, I remembered Sultans of Swing right away too.

Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd is also in D minor...

Two really cool solos.

i think one of my all time favourite Dm solos is Farewell Ballad by Zakk Wylde

search it on youtube

the tabs are on here somewhere and its not that hard to play, but sounds incredible

melodic and shred at the same time (Y)

"Ein Herz von flimmernden Hirngespinsten,
Ohne Halt und ohne Boden.
Feuer des Winters,
Herr der Träume,
Vater aller Türen: Öffne!"
Paysage d'Hiver - Ich schreite

What's minor?

I only heard of aeollian

:P

anyways... Aeollian is pretty dark sounding. However, don't forget

Harmonic Minor (raised 7th causes tension, since most of us are used to hearing minor.)
Phrygian (pretty dark sounding...)
Neopolitian minor... I think it's something like that anyways.

D, and F# are 2 real good keys to use. Sometimes E and F will fit in, too.
ESP F-250
Tubescreamer TS7
Boss DS-1
Boss Metal Zone
Jackson JS30KV
Vox AD50VT-212

We're talking Dm the key. Harmonic minor is a scale.

Slither-Velvet Revolver. The solo has a pretty sweet intro.

Sunshine of your Love and White Room by Cream are both in Dm but Clapton does a lot major/minor mixing when soloing. Maybe you could work on that.
