512 is plentiful if you dont use RSE in Guitar Pro. I've never used it... and if its on XP. But 3GB is going on gaming laptop.

Do you even have vista? or you feel you aren't "retarted" enough for it and that you will kill "urself"

If you're getting vista, 2gb of ram is pretty necessary. But yeah, 3gb is more than needed. I have 2gb on vista and I can run new pc games.

dont worry about vista. youll be fine with it.

3 GB is waaaaay more than enough.

I think you have to be running a 64 bit OS in order to even use anymore RAM.

3GB = 512MB x 6

Tis okay. You really have to have used it yourself to grasp the changes from XP.

I like it more than XP, but then again I was running it on an old dell dimension with 128 MB of RAM (eventually upgraded it to 512MB but it still ran slow.)

I have 512 ram and I regularly run Guitar pro with RSE on with about 8-9 other things on at the same time

I have only two gigs of ram, and GP runs flawlessly.

Vista runs fine for me with all the graphical crap on and everything. 2gb ram but it's got internal graphics, which is ok because I don't play games.
