It's that time of year again where all of us UKers in higher secondary education start to worry about the inevitable GCSE's, AS/A2 exams etc. So here is a thread dedicated to exam talk, revision plans/motivating and come August...

RESULTS DAY TALK

There you have it Pit, discuss all of your examination worries, predicted grades, plans after exams and such here!

EDIT: And you, the Scots!

EDIT 2: So here I lay out a GCSE predicted grade list, it won't contain all of them so you'll have to add your courses yourself. Delete subjects that you aren't taking. There are loads of AS/A2 courses so add and delete appropriate ones:

GCSE Predicted Grades:

Mathematics:
English language:
English literature:
Media studies:
Biology:
Chemistry:

RESULTS DAY EDIT:

Congrats UG A-levellers, you've again broken the pass rate record yet again.

I really haven't revised enough. I'm not stupid, but I'll probably end up with a bunch of C's.

Good luck to everyone else though!

+1

well my first exam is tommorow which is music, from there it goes rapidly down hill. At least we get like 1month plus 1/2 weeks to sit 7 days worth of exams.

I'm not looking forward to my exams at all. I've hardly done any revision either.

I havent worked very hard this year and im thinking ill get either CCCC or BBC or worse than both.

next year though i am determined to get AAA, my TEFL certification and a grade or two in italian.

TEFL is "teaching english as a foriegen language"

I'm smart enough to only do some revision and pass at 2's apart from Business Management which i could do no revision and scrape a 1 in becaus ei'm god at that. Oh and maths becaue i suck balls at it. I'll probably revise like **** for the subjects i'm taking next year and little for the ones i'm not. However in all honesty revising suck balls andi would rather just watch porn all day.

I'm on AABB for Physics History, Maths and computing respectivley for a/s

doing the first 3 at A2 and need BBB for uni offer, its challening, especially when all your exams could take weeks to revise for but by spending weeks revising for exams you forget the ones previously.

Bah

Is the GCSE results day for you guys the 14th of August?

I was really pissed off, because the only reason I didnt get Early Bird Tickets for Reading Festival is that I thought my exam results were coming out on the thursday before Reading, and now its the week before

well it irritated me

I'm hoping for AAABA in my AS exams. I'm fully capable of achieving it, but English language is the only one I'm confident with
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

Anyone else got Critical Thinking? I got on the A boundary for module one (Credibility of Evidence) and I really want an A overall. Any tips for this unit especially writing good arguments?
#19
There's been a lot of threads on this but I think this one should stick

I'm hoping to do alright in exams. Hopefully:
Literature - B
Art- A
Geology - A
Biology - A

I think I should get that.

I remember doing GCSE's this time last year and thinking I put in quite a bit of effort (not extortionately), but now I do that amount of work every day for AS

GCSEers, put the effort in from day one, seriously.

I've worked harder than last year. Hopefully I can get (at the least) the BBC combo that I need to get into my first choice.

ICT: Got a B last year, was on an A (stupid fat teacher), meant to get an A/A* for this topic.

Revising is long. Fortunately in a few subjects we've finished the course and are revising in lessons.

My first exams are tomorow, chemistry then music. Dreading them but I can't wait to get them over. My last exams on the 27th of May and I don't need to go back untill the 9th of June or something and then i'll start 5th year. Pretty good I'm planning on staying on untill 6th year so I can get my higher maths because I got moved down to general from credit this year because of the prelim. It just means that next year i'll do int 2 and then the year after, higher.
It's all good.
#31
Predicted:

English - A
Maths - B
Sciences - B
History - A
Geography - A
Technology - B
BTEC Music - Distinction

I'm currently working at these grades, so hopefully everything should go alright

work hard on your A/S as its easier to get the marks in there than for A2.

True, but when you retake AS in the 2nd year, for a lot of subjects you look at the AS and think 'wow, how easy was that', and you tend to better in resits if you actually revise for them tbh.

I know i'm dreading it. But i'm planning on taking them both for higher next year so i'll have another while with them yet
Good luck with yours aswell

The only exam i worried about is C3 in maths, the rest should be fine and hopefully I should be able to get full marks on some of my modules, but why we do C3 for AS at my school I don't know .

Plus I can't believe I've less than 2 weeks to my first exam

B maths
B Human Bio
A chemistry
Distinction - Music Technology

i find that doing all of the past papers over and over helps alot, although im sitting 12 exams this summer with all my resits, becase i ddnt put in the effort, so for everyone taking As's work hard and youll have less to worry about

Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at AS. I'm hoping for high A's in all 3. Maths should be fine, but I'll be lucky to get a B in the other 3 at the minute, I really need to start revising....
