http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/misc_unsigned_bands/mattrach_-_new_canon_rock_tab.htm

the main riff- starting at :43 seconds, I don't really know what to do with my right hand, I know it should seem easy, but I can't grasp it.

The lead is easier than the riffs to me
And we will weave in and out of sanity unnoticed
Swirling in blissfully restless visions of all our bleary progress
Glowing in radiant madness

what you you mean? There the tabs for it.
I think it's in the key of G
I think most of the chords he use are just 5chords

It starts on section 11 or the 11 part of the tab

He starts off with the chord D..and use the open D note as a sort of
root, then just hit the other chords.
The D note is kinda palm muted.

He plays the Root and the 3rd as the A chord
and just hits sort pitch harmonics <> for the 5th then back to the 3rd.

Dimebag do those.lol

He use artifical harmoics too of couse.

Good lord here come smilely...He's blind...It's G
Havn't you sent a self address envelope yet ??
i guess you didn't see that.

you wanna know why it's in G..smiley ???
becuase he plays a natural C note.

will I'll make a D chord anyway without hitting the
little E string

Im in love with that riff too, actually that whole version of the song. But that kind of playing is lightyears beyond my skill level.

Wow, you're clueless.

The song is based off of Pachelbel's CANON IN D. The main riff revolves around D, as do the intro, verses, solos and chord progression. You have no idea what you're talking about.

becuase he plays a natural C note.

I've been through that intro where the motion is scalar - C#, not C. I got halfway down the page and have seen only C#'s and no C natural.

So you're basically saying that you modulate the key every time you play a note that's not in the original key. Do you enjoy wasting my time or do you simply never tire of being wrong?

You should care, because you're arguing that it's in G when it's clearly not.

The riff starts on a D anyway, so that's answered.

No, I'm not a "lameass". And now you've resorted to such talk because you know you're wrong and look ridiculous. I'd appreciate it if you could just realize that you were wrong on this and cut the crap.
Quote by Ordinary
Nope I don't care becuase Ur a lameass

And you're now reported for this garbage. At least you'll have some time away from the forums to convince yourself that Pachelbel got the key of his own piece wrong.

Becuase you always gatta make playing power chords harder than it has to be.

if you're where in my band I'd bash my guitar over your head to get narly tones.lmao

No. I was giving him the correct key of the piece, which will help him. Not once did I mention power chords.

Fortunately I'm not, but I would volunteer myself because it would ruin your guitar so that you'd be unable to continue to learn music incorrectly.

You're just asking to get warned/banned, just a heads up.

Well, I'm not going to record myself at 12:30 in the morning in a dorm building during quiet hours. I will be recording some original material in the not-too-distant future, though I have nothing to prove to you. And you're just dodging the point; my playing has nothing to do whatsoever with your idiocy.

Being correct does not constitute "BS talk"; everything you've said in this thread does.

Just throw it together. You say you know it..so what's up ???

if you're good...we'll know.

Like I said, I'm not recording right now because it's quiet hours in my building; in addition, I have no equipment at this point with which to record.

You're the one making excuses here, attempting to call me out because you tried to argue that Pachelbel's Canon in D is really in G.

I don't care if you know how good I am; your posts here will let us know whether you're an imbecile, which you've affirmed rather well.

So how in the heck is ever going to get around to recording or practicing
when he's usually up at night and can't make any noise.

i just wanna kno if Smily can pick a note.
He's been on here with theory stuff ticking people off
i wanna hear some notes and not BS.

Whats the piont if you don't apply it or can't apply it.
Walk the talk or play the talk.

I'm not only awake during the nighttime, so I will record myself when I get equipment to do so.

I'd like to know who I ticked off other than you (by proving you wrong); what I say is not BS because I actually know what I'm talking about.
#24
Okay, Smiley i would like some of your music....whenever you get around to it.
Probably never.
Becuase you're too bussy proving me wrong

I dunno..just read some of theads you get into.
every mofo say they know what they're talking about.
Stop making excuses.

By the way you been going about it.
I figure you have a recording studio, play in a band or your own studio to give people lesson or at least play everyday.

I can't imagine a musician not having sometype of recording equipment
Even my PC has a mic jack that i can just go direct and free recording
software is avaliable for download.

Stop making excuses

In MT, it doesnt matter how technically good at an instrument you are. And anyway, what does it matter? Look at someone like danny elfman, he cant play guitar but he can write some awesome guitar music.

And pretty much everyone loves Mr smiley face here. He says interesting things so I couldnt care about his proficency with the guitar (is that the right word)?

Now could a mod PLEASE close this thread. It's run out of control. And I'm not too convinced the T/S question is even relevant in MT.

The Fuck is wrong with you?? He's been on here with theory stuff helping people. And What the fuck does playing notes got to do with sharing knowledge with others?? In case you ain't noticed this is a forum for theory, not for recordings and the like.

As for the piece it is indeed in D major. Just because there may be the odd C natural doesn't mean it's in G major. There is a great invention in music called the "accidental". In fact it's such a great invention it allows composers to use notes that normally don't appear in a key for effect. Absolutely amazing invention, when it's used properly. Besides I didn't see any C naturals in what I looked at.

And if you want a demonstration of the application of theory, just look at earlier posts. Determining a key based on the notes of the piece, or the chords it contains is, amazingly enough, an application of theory.

~Taydr~Wow, I just realised that ordinary said that great pearl of idiocy. This forum is 80% Theory, what else should we discuss? And I think Ordianry is trying to be elitist, but failing. You know, he's more superior than Mr smiley just because he can play better. Than (after smiley records something), no matter how good or bad smiley plays, he'll say he played better and that smileys stupid theory got him no where.

MT should be a democracy, we should be able to vote ban people.

EDIT: Ordinary's posts make me feel dirty. Especially this one \\//

EDIT2: Taydr please dont bump the thread

Doing it. Yes that is what it comes down to, doing it. And what is this it? This it is enjoying music, in whatever way you want. If all you like doing is playing, then by all means, there is no need for you to hang around here. But if you like discussing the theory behind the music, or extending your knowledge, then by all means this is the place for you. Around these parts we enjoy music by discussing it, sharing our knowledge while building it up, so that we may become better able to enjoy music.
