pls dont lock this yet.
i'd just like to know what genre do bands like alesana, underoath, alexisonfire, etc. fit in.
they're not screamo, because screamo is saetia, off minor, etc.
they're not post-hardcore because post-hardcore is at the drive-in, hot cross, etc.
they're not pop-punk because pop-punk is ramones, screeching weasel, etc.
so what are they?
allmusic and wikipedia says they are screamo and even categorise them under bands like city of caterpillar.
i know this isn't the most useful threads but i just like to know more about these genres and understand what screamo means.

I would say Ramones is what influence early pop-punk. But they aren't pop-punk themselves.
ok, yeah. my name is silly because I signed up when I was 13.

"emo was started by the rites of spring"

dont lump these bands into categories

underoath is better that half of the screamo/ posthardcore bands out there

and so is alexisonfire

Emo was started around Rites Of Springs time.
Underoath is nowhere near as good as most real screamo or post-hardcore bands.

These are facts.

these bands sound like they're playing a fusion of pop rock and screamo. but whats the right term for it?

alesena doesnt sound like pop rock from what i think. why does it matter. ehh. just say screamo alternative. so they are different from pure screamo but they can be called half screamo or whatever.
