Hey guys, just want step aside from what I've been playing lately and want to start learning some funk. Any tips on the major characteristics of it, and maybe some "styles", or some MUST KNOW funk bands?

Thanks.

Oh some very common riffs and licks would be appreciated as well.

Alot of Funk music has very prominent slap and pop bass, and alot of wah and major chord inversions.

You must learn Parliament/Funkadellic songs!! P-Funk is excellent.

A lot of funk guitar is kind of like percussion and has a good amount of wah. Might want to keep that in mind.
