so cause i live in australia we get ripped off in the amp dep.
I have decided i will never get a mesa.
I am looking at a 1992 mesa single solo recto but i rekon thats abit old

i am also looing at a peavey 6505 combo with a 5 year warrenty
or a framus cobra head.

I want good cleans and the brootalz

what do you suggest?

I know that the old mesas are the best mesas. But i'm not sure about the cleans in it.

I hear good things about the Cobra, but i saw the inside of one and the construction didn't look too great. Can you try all three out? Cause we can say all we want, but it won't affect your taste in tone

Roland Jazz Chorus. The most brootalz amp out there.

Just kidding - definitely the Cobra.

All three are gonna be great. From personal experience, I'd take the Mesa. But I've never played a Cobra. Heard a lot of great things about them, and I think Killswitch uses them, and I absolutely love their tone. If you can try them out yourself that would be the best way to decide.
Heads will roll. Throats will be slit. Blood will flow like springs of water.

tbh man, if you can afford a framus head, id check out a 6505+ head too.

but if your wanting cleans, i hear the framus is a bit better for them

Framus has the cleans and gain you need but the build quality is quite cheap, if you're not hard on your gear you'll be fine though.

The Peavey has a good gain channel but not very good cleans at all.

The Recto is decent. I'm not sure how the single rectos compare to the dual and triple recto two channels from that time, but if it's anything like those, it's better than the ones in production today. The cleans probably aren't the greatest, but the distortion is good.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

If you can get a Peavey 6505+ do it! I tried one at Guitarcenter today and I didn't even get to crank it and it sounded amazing. The cleans are alright but seeing as how you don't exactly need a Fender clean it'll do. But the gain is great, just great.

Dude, the earlier the recto the better. People pine over those earlier ones. Get it. Kick ass amp. I have a link in my sig to my triple recto doing cleans, and obviously the distortion kicks some serious ass.

Marshall MG100 half stack with an unmodded Boss Metal Zone pedal. Nothing more brutal than that. Mesa sound couldn't touch that...

Well, for the brootalz, you can't get much more brootal than an MG. The overdrive is CRUSHING.

I'm in the same boat as you . Oh and Eusupremacy, good. Otherwise we'd flame you to death and beyond.
