I'd love some feedback on this recording. I basically took this fairly simple but really cool folk song my girlfriend's uncle wrote in the 70's and has always performed acoustic, and reinterpreted as more modern heavy prog rock, adding a bunch of breakdowns and solos and whatnot.

Crit for crit! Enjoy - its in my profile

The vocals are really great! I don't know about the guitar tone and the drums, they sound a little weak. But that set aside, this sounds really great! Your girlfriend's uncle is obviously very talented.

If I was to change anything on this recording I'd make the rhythm guitars and drums a tiny bit louder.

I think the drums are a little odd during the mellower bits - could probably do with being really really simple, like just a hi-hat or something. And the guitar sounds weak too, like Dores said - maybe double it up something? Other than that, compositionally it sounds great, and great singing!

in terms of the guitars, do you mean the clean chords on the verse need to be louder or the distorted/palm-muted part?

i am tweaking the drums now, i had been sensing the same thing
