ok so i downloaded this video, its an .avi file and when i open it up in windows media player i get sound but no video...
then when i open it in divx player i get video but no sound, how can i fix this?

i would suggest getting VLC player, it has every codec ever mande. There may be multiple audio tracks and you cant choose using those players.

You may have just downloaded a dodgy file. Try opening it in WinAmp, or iTunes. If that doesn't work, you might have to redownload it.

it's defo a codec issue.

Do yourself a favour and get the k-lite codec pack, it comes with media player classic, my video player of choice

Run both at once.

I'd suggest downloading the K-Lite-Mega Codec pack , I did and I've had no issues.

That software is still in beta, but it has played everything I have thrown at it so far. It can even repair damaged files (at least sometimes).

It's freeware, google it.
