Anyone ever tried washing a gig bag in a washing machine? Mine smells of soot (house fire) and cat piss (friend had an unnudered male cat). Should I try it? Will it shrink in a dryer? Any tips appreciated!

Why don't you just throw it out and buy a case?

Um, house fire? We're a little tight on money right now. Sort of desperate here

Ouch, my dearest apologies go out to you and your family. How did the fire start?

the washer may work, if you do use it, obviously dont put the bag in the drier or it will shrink. just hang the bag up. Or try fabric refreshener as i mentioned above

We're still not sure. It was March 1st. We were out of the house by the 8th. That weekend also happened to be the 3rd worse blizzard in our town's history, which didn't help much. Then my brother broke his leg, my grandmother got diagnosed with cancer, dad flew out to California to see her, my sister broke her leg (both broke their tibias) and my grandmother passed away. It sort of sucked.

um...maybe there is an over the counter chemical spray that pro's use to clean up a house and materials after a fire. like what the Servpro guys use. might come in handy for other items as well. i also don't think it will hurt it to put in washing machine and then hang out to dry. repeat.

also, if someone knows how to set it up i would donate too.

A "tubescreamer" is a person paid by a guitarist to stand behind the amp and scream at the tubes. This terrifies the tubes into overdriving and delivers a thick, harmonic-rich tone.

Half fill your bathtub with hot water, add some washing detergent and soak your bag in the bath. Maybe walk around on it while it's in there.

That is a good idea, then let it dry outside when its nice out, like on a clothes pin.
