I'm looking for a good tube amp that can do melodic, progressive hardcore type stuff. Think It Prevails, Shai Hulud, Life In Your Way, Beloved, & As Cities Burn. Nice cleans are great, but they don't have to be wonderful. Preferably 2-channel. Price is about up to $1600.

Mesa Mark IV or Dual Recto.

The hotbar should be floating parallel to the principle axis at this point. Next, take a hammer, and beat yourself in the face while crying JIHAD. problem fixed.

mark IV sounds like a perfect match to me

Really? I've heard them recommended for things like pop punk before. Are they just very versatile?

EDIT: How good are the Mark IV's mids? I really like a lot of mids.

Yes, extremely versatile.

The Mark IV is all about the mids.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

dual rectifier. i played on the mark IV, and didn't like it that much, but i didn't get to spend much time on it. but hey, lamb of god uses a mark IV, so it obviously produces good tone somehow.

Interesting. You obviously didn't spend much time with it, the Dual Recto is nothing compared to the Mark IV imo.

They're too completely different amps. Linkin Park/Limp Biskit just gave them a terrible name, not to mention the fact that everyone and their uncle has one leads to a ridiculous amount of recto bashing. They are different beasts than the marks. The OP should just go try them both out see which he likes more.
