Since you like Nirvana, how about On a Plain? I'm pretty sure that's in Drop D.

I do believe you just used Blink 182 and hard rock in the same sentence. It would seem you're rather confused.
I have a quote in my signature! And it makes fun of blink-182! I'm cool now!

"City Love" - John Mayer

It's pretty hard, it's not a lame power chord song either

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEE2_RYyVYk if you could learn the riff at the beginning of this version, that would be amazing!

2nd Edit: Just realized that that's the "Machine Gun" riff.

Every tab i've seen for Walk is drop d, not d standard.

Anyway, A new level is in drop d, very heavy. Also by pantera.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

The whole "Minutes To Midnight" album by Linkin Park.
Most of the songs by Paramore.
"Judith" by A Perfect Circle can also be played in Drop D (but it's not the correct tuning, although i found a tab here in UG that sounds good enough).

i know with 100% certainty that dime played the song in D(whole step down). there were interviews with him where he taught it and he said it is played a whole step down with thte note tuned slightly flat

Ok here is a video of him playing it backstage and you can tell just from listening to it that it is tuned a whole step down
