Okay, first.. I know Fender make great guitars..

and you see I wanted to get a strat.. but not as a main guitar.. I have 2 others I play on and I just wanted a strat.. just to have one so if I wanted that single-coil strat sound I could get it..

since it wasn't going to a primary guitar I was wondering about this one:

instead of an American..

is it a piece of crap?
the pricetag is rather low.. I guess.

was looking at it because it's affordable, nothing flashy.. just a normal average fender, so yeah what's there to know about it?

also, I was going to replace the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio.

but yeah what's the biggest difference between that and the American and what's this one like?

It's actually pretty good.
One of the best price to quality ratios out there.
It gets even better with a good set of pickups.

piece of crap? no.

but is an american strat worth $600+ more? yes.

all you have to do is pick up a mim strat then pick up an american strat. play them both for a min. you can tell the $600 difference. but if you don't want to spend $1k on an american strat, the mim strat is definitely worth its price.

you should be able to get the single coil sound you are looking for, they still sound ok. as long as you are sure you aren't going to really "get into" the strat, the mexi one is just fine.

A well setup MIM strat is comparable to a MIA, IMO.
