I would go with that SG twisty suggested it looks great and Epiphones are real nice guitars. I have a Les Paul Standard that has never let me down. Plus Metal started on an SG. Tony Iommi anyone?

The SG is Nice but I like the styling of ESP's and want something with a Floyd Rose even a lisensed would be fine.. just to try them out...

Agile. Best bet for the money. Search for the AL-2500.

I would strongly suggest not going cheap for your first locking trem-equipped guitar. Most of the cheap ones have very poor quality LFRs that won't stay in tune nearly as well and will wear out rather quickly.

If you want a Floyd, save up a little more for a Jackson DK2 or something similar.

I don't kno ^, looks like the hagstrom would be more vintage tone with and the g400 is more hard rock.

As soon as my G400 arrives I'll be able to tell you for sure but those pups in the Hag Dlx are the same in my F200

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

check out the jackson dxmg, it looks like a metal guitar, and while a lot of people dont like the active emgs they sound great in heavy overdrive.
