I'm looking to get a nice acoustic on ebay for a lot of recording and some live playing. I'm searching to find some eBay steals and was wondering if anyone could point me out some great brands that aren't very well known that I should look into. My price range is like 675 tops for a used acoustic

craigslist>eBay
craigslist is online classifieds, so that means local pickup, you can try before you buy, guitars there are usually cheaper than ebay. look at whats available in your area.

Art & Lutherie. They're made in Quebec (Canada) and are a huge bang for their buck. Worth checking out.

I've never played one, but a lesser known brand that you may get a good deal on is Tacoma

Larrivee isn't lesser known... they're huge amongst fingerstyle players and acoustic players in general. Not to mention they cost a fortune.

I'd go with Laguna guitars... I played their highest end model (around 700 dollars) and it was comparable to a 3,000 dollar Breedlove that I played just minutes afterwards.
My God, it's full of stars!

Seagull is pretty well known, I think, but there guitars are relatively cheap...

And absolutely fantastic. I'm an ardent Seagull supporter.

If you're interested in vintage, check out a Framus -- they made some nice ones.

They're fantastic guitars even if they weren't super cheap. I'd highly recommend them.

well yes, but from what ive seen around here not many people talk about them. Also, the 3 series would be right around his price range used, and are some of the best sounding guitars ive played at that price.

mmm. it's true that you dont hear about Larrivee's too often on this forum, but i think that's partially because most people here spend under $1000USD on their guitars.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of Larrivee guitars. i've tried a couple and they just aren't my cup of tea. i would definitely encourage people to try it out though.

as for lesser known brands, Guild is mentioned every now and then on this forum, but i dont think the GAD series really gets the praise it deserves. so my vote is for guild. they're seriously good guitars at good prices to boot.

Guild anything doesn't get enough praise.
