Hey, I've been playing a while and am starting to put things into Keys now, and working on my own solos for them.

Currently I'm working with Moe.'s "The road"

I've figured out the solo has the notes A B C# D E F# G#.

The main verse of the song are E D A - A G E

First off, is it common to switch keys during a solo or jam, and next what key is the solo I described in?

-Sorry if I'm just missing something. I've done a bit of searching and cant figure out what scale this fits into...

the solo seems to be in A major or F# minor, and yes it is common to jump around scales if they harmonize well together

I've been studying my theory a good amount lately (for the first time). Are there any specific articles you could point me to, or tips you could give me to figuring out keys?

Thanks for your responses guys, much appreciated.
