Hi everyone!

I've some problems with my boss DS-1. When I turn up the gain beyond let's say 2 o'clock it gets really noisy. I get this humming kind of noise. It doesn't matter which cables or which amp I use and it's also not the guitar, I guess - although I have active EMGs in it.

Is my DS-1 defect or is it quite normal for that pedal? Would a noisegate help and where would I put a noisegate - at the beginning or the end of my pedal board?

Thanks a lot in advance!

on the clean channel
When I start playing the humming doesn't get too noticeable - but as soon as I stop playing I hear the humming.

this is normal with distortion pedals. my DS-2 does it too, as does my Marshall JH-1 overdrive.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.

it may be your power supply...try using a battery and see if it gets quieter....if that doesn't make any difference...and it still annoys you......get a noise gate
