This is just a fusion song I wrote recently. Comment please!

Don't listen to the other songs in my profile. They're old and nothing like this.

Thanks in advance!

I've never posted anything here, but I guess I'm supposed to do crit for crit so yeah...crit for crit.

EDIT: I played guitar, but I wrote out all the other parts.

I think the opening chords could have done with some post-production compression.
I liked the the chorused guitar that follows.
I like the way the band worked together during the middle section. I think that the solo could do with some reworking (e.g notes being cut off).

Overall, a great track that just needs some minor tweaks.

this sounds really cool man, i really dig the feel

good job recording all the instruments, is this all live one take? or was it done in tracks?

everythings balanced pretty nicely

some of the guitar work can definitely be cleaner especially on the slides and faster legato work

the bassline throughout is pretty neat

the bass starts getting really crazy at 2:40, are those tritones i hear?

oh man, but the mess up on the final chord really bothered me, you didnt get the extension on it so it sounded like a lamely simple ending instead of sounding jazzy

great quality, and neat overall melody/head, nice work!

as i listen:

Sounds like samba... the rhythm sagged just a bit in the beggining, for a brief moment. this sounds like its recorded live, which is cool and clear.

the keys sound interesting... rather 90's ish, if thats what you were going for... I have yet to hear the fusion influence, unless this blows up all crazy....

its got a nice laid back feel... the guitar could use some fattening and sound beefier to really get that 'fusion' tone in.

Now this section has the lead guitar sound, which is cool. I dig the sections and the fact that you arent doing some pop formula stuff. if this was recorded live, its a really good recording as all the parts are clear...

overall i think its cool... i dont think its jazz fusion, i like the ideas... it sounds more like jazz/pop as you can throw a pretty catchy hook over it and be chillen. It starts off with a samba feel... perhaps and the group should go for some authentic samba sounds maybe for that section, you know... for the hell of it.

heres my stuff. no need to crit, as it has fallen way back in the pages and i dont care to see it here again.

Hey thanks everyone! Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I fell asleep on my coach by accident and just woke up. I'm gonna crit your songs in like 5 minutes when I'm fully awake again.

Hmm really cool sound and ideas. Not exactly fusion, though very much inspired by it, gives me more of a jazzy/poppy vibe something along the lines of The Sea and Cake (check out the "The Kiss" something tells me wou will love it). Fusion for me is more late Miles and Mclaughlin stuff or chick corea or somethin. Heres the deal for me, cool progressions and stuff, lackluster musicianship guitar wise. Nice bass. My advice is to keep it simple but effective instead of trying to show off, as your not impressing many people. Also a impactful melody over this could really make it shine. The ideas here are great though, do some reworking. AND please check out that song by the sea and cake, they are like kindof the rulebook to what your doing, though maybe a little less jazzy.

Overall I give it 7/10

Yeah I know about the guitar, the thing was that the solo sounded good whenever we played it in a rehearsal, but when we recorded the pick slipped out of my hand and I could play all the leads because it slipped out right at the solo. It was a one time mess up and I was really disappointed when I heard the recording because it was so much worse than it normally is.
