So I'm doing this kind of guitar/keyboard duet for this song. We might have a good singer but he's a little nervous and if he declines, then we'll have conflict because the song narrowed down the farthest it can be has 3 parts, but me and the keyboard player can't handle it all, and there's no bass part. What do I do?

Create a guitar solo to fill up the space.

But it's a calmer song, so a solo dosen't really fit.

Solos can be calm. Just because it's a solo doesn't mean it's this shred piece. It's just an independent melody line. It can be nice and calm and fit just fine.

Well, I kind of play those kinds of solos a lot in my particular ensemble.
