I've got a vox v847 wah, I LOVE the tone, but I wish it were more distortion friendly. Is there any way I could possibly do some simple mods for the wah without affecting the tone?

EDIT: I don't want to change the clean tone too much.

hmm i don't know bout modding it but i know what you mean. with super hi gain mine sounds more like a slight wah/treble booster. but for anything hard rock and less it's great. i'd just stick w/ it like it is and buy another wah for metal somewhere down the road.

either that or get a fulltone as they supposedly rape at both.

When I play it through my traynor ycv40wr, the sweep all of a sudden goes from way bassy to sharp and thin. Could it be smoother with mods?

well that's prolly the wah's nature. although the vox's are very nice wahs, they're NOT boutique or top of the line....

also, make sure your amp settings are reasonable. i guess if you usually use a lotta bass then u'll notice bass loss big time. but wahs accentuate the higher frequencies don't they?
