well, i want to start bass. okay, i know this question have probably been asked about a million times but anyway...

first: I'm on an incredibly strict budget

i have seen this one
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rogue-LX205B-Series-II-5String-Bass-?sku=512229

and i will probably be getting this litle amp
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-MAX-126-Bass-Practice-Combo?sku=481459

sooo thats it, just to be sure if its really good, or if you have better ideas, dont hesitate!

swap those budgets around, invest in a good amp before a good bass, will be much better

I'm just joking Moog. you know nothing can tear our friendship apart, not even the fact we are miles apart, I am right there beside you, yelling, "Chug it, ya little wimp!"

I can't say anything about the gear you suggested, but you usually get what you pay for- and 130 bucks for a five string is not very much.
My recommendation would be to seriously save up another 100 bucks and get these:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GSR205-5String-Bass?sku=519525
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ashdown-After-Eight-8-Combo-Bass-Amp?sku=485038

This way, you've got some quality beginners gear that'll last you much longer than what you're planning to buy.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

good bass, I guess. I'd pick the Ibanez though.
