# This is a mathematical problem but it is insane

Page 1 of 2
It is a mathematical problem that proves i could be a better guitar player than Jimi Hendrix

a=b
a2+a2=a2+ab
2a2-2ab=a2+ab-2ab
2a2-2ab=a2-ab
2(a2-ab)=1(a2-ab) the parenthesisses are deleted and...
2=1

so if 2=1 i can beat Jimi as well
What do you say?
in the second line, you cant just add ab unless B=2, which then in the second to last line both would be multiplied by 0, thus giving 0=0, which is true

Work on Reimanns Hypothesis.
When all else fails, ask the pit.
I've seen this before, and the reason it works, is because you set a=b. This could be setting 6=5, not the end part, the initial a=b, and that would be why it works. You can't really prove that a=b with this problem, and therefore the validity of the equation is false.
The reason it does not work is because you divide by zero in one of the steps...

You treat A and B as mutually exclusive variables when in fact, the first line states they are the same so you cannot do that. Breaks the equation.
Real eyes realise real lies.
Yea, you can't just add a random number to one side without adding it another. Plus, the second line makes no sense

If you were going to do that it would be

a=b

2a=2b

2a + 2a = 2b + 2a

ab + 4a = 2b + 2a + ab

Fail

The only way this could be true is if a and b were equal, so a=a or 1=1
a=b means a and b are the same number, or the absolute values of the same number.... so basically you suck at math

lespaulrocks39, you sir are awesome.
2(a^2)=a^2 +ab
but since a=b substitute b for all the a's so
2b*b=b*b+b*b
simplify
2b^2=2b^2
divide both sides by b^2
2=2
you fail
The error is in the third line, where you add -2a^2. This causes 0=0, any math from there is flawed.

Nice try though, but you can't play better than Jimi
The real problem is that you divided by zero.

you are wrong, just accept it. the error is in the first line, you can't just set a=b.

Journalism...?

Really...?

With that grammar and spelling...?

Really?!
In the fifth line, by getting rid of the parantheses, you divide by zero.
So the real answer is a=b, a=2, b=2, 2=2...
So Jimi beats you.
(and you have to go back to eighth grade math)

Lol, where did you get that a=2?

The line where it says something like 2a2-2ab=a2+ab-2ab.
2a^2 = a^2 + ab.
If a=2, the 2*4=4+4.
No other value works...
Edit: Sorry, I was wrong. -2 also works.

If a=3

2.(3^2)=3^2+3.3
2.9=9+9
18=18

???

Any real (or integers or whatever they are called at least) value would work....

and the only person who could ever do this was jimi so no there is no chance you can be better than Hen Dricks
This could only work if a=0 or maybe a=1. And as stated before you have a divide by zero error.
