What exact model is the amp?
Yeah, if it is indeed a tube amp, the Jekyll and Hyde would be good. It has a nice overdrive which you can use to boost your amp, and if you wanted to get a more brutal distortion, click on the distortion side.
Call me Wes.
Gear:
Fender American Deluxe HSS Strat
Chicago Blues Box Roadhouse
Bad Cat Cougar 5
1957 Gibson GA-5

I would have recommended a Boss MT-2 (Metal Zone) pedal..
Its actually affordable, and makes a very good sound, I know a metal band who uses it mainly, and fits as well with any kind of rock/metal.. You should give it a try.

The Landmine DS-1, Damage Control Solid Metal and Metal Muff are all meant to be good for stuff like that though

I don't understand all the Metal Muff fans around here. That was the WORST distortion pedal ever. I mean, at first, it sounded ok but after you've listened to that thing for a couple of weeks you will hate it. I can STILL hear that screeching and hissing in my head. UGH. I vote ProTone Body Rot. Now THAT is a good distortion pedal.
