So I finally got my C30, I know some of you were waiting for this (stratman_13 ) Well, I got it, a few dayslater than expected. And it is UNBELIEVABLE. The clean chanel- excellent. And the drive is wonderful, nice and smooth, lots of mids and a great rich sound. JJ's in the power section. The speaker is not quite what I thought it would be. It really is quite a good speaker, I was pleasently suprised. I had had tried out another C30 and it didn't sound quite this good. But it is a Hellatone. I think avatar buys a celestion G12H and ****s with it a bit. Either way, pretty good speaker.
Ok, porn for you guys, sound clips hopefully later today.

Yeah i'm pretty sure a hellatone is basically an aged and rebranded G12H.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

I'd say speaker change is modding because it is changing what was stock, like changing a pickup in a guitar. Also it depends what kind of tube change it is. Like my JCM900 took 6L6 tubes only, but I had it modded to be able to take EL34. I think it's all in the context.

Modding to me implies going into the guts of the amp and changing something.

Like, changing strings isn't modding, but wiring in a different pickup or switch is.

A speaker is on the same level as valves for me.
A dwarf might hear you. What then?

Sweet.
JJ's are killer EL84's. Turn up the bass all the way, mids at 8, and treble and presence on 5, and crank the clean channel up to 9 with a maxxed master volume. Oh yeah...
Well, whatever speaker you have, it'll probably be a bit better than the stock speaker (blue marvels).
Good job anyways!

Was the amp too loud for you when playing? I could barely hear your sound clip of the C30
and I had my speakers on full vol.!
