Dust in the wind by Kansas.

I'm starting there myself, and it's a pretty good exercise to get your fingers doing something they're not used to.

Alright. Thanks.

But I was looking for like, what the whole technique behind finger picking is.

I just got in the mood to learn it because I watched Crossroads earlier and when I saw his fingers fly through the classical stuff I was like holy ****. Haha.

When I finger pick I use my thumb and all fingers except my pinkey. I use that as a anchor.

If you're going to try and play slide blues you're gonna have to learn to keep your thumb going on the base notes like shown here.http://youtube.com/watch?v=OUi9-jqq_i0

Some people prefer actual finger picks

While others grow their nails long.

I just prefer to use the fleshy part of my fingers.

Hope this helops

It took me a while to use to picking leads with my fingers.
Mostly it was becuase of the tones. It sounds different.
but hey...that's a good thing...more veriety of tones to my playing.
I love picking the blues with my fingers ,now.

I craddle the pick with my with my index finger, so I make good use
of the pinky.

For straight PMI picking i toss the pick and just use my index finger.

Songs such as Blackbird will help develope your thumb to change strings.
The intro to cliff of dover requires you to finger pick

I'd recommend getting a beginner classical guitar technique book rather than jumping straight into learning a pop-ish song. There are lots of simple arpeggio studies that are designed for this sort of thing.
