What's a good way to tarnish metal parts, I'm relicing my old Squier for fun.

Vinegar? It's all I really have, and I don't want to use chemicals.

Vinegar won't do anything. If your parts are chrome, you'll have to remove the chrome surface, otherwise NOTHING will get through. I don't really know the specifics, but sanding/scuffing would be a starting point, I guess.

Sanding, scuffing, hucking rocks at it in a bowl (cheap way of one of those polisher things that turn).

Then vinegar?

Hah, how about some sandpaper fastened around a drillbit?

I'll do some research about this, as I'm curious to know too!

Edit: Scuff the baby down, then try some household, chlorine-based bleach on it.. or sulphur, if you have any to hand! :P

Have a read of the 'Metal' section on this page too: http://www.heartsart.com/info/innewsdetail.asp?nid=5&ID=119

Yeah, that would work. Or elbow grease.

I'm doing that right now, tough time finding anything though.

EDIT: Just read your edit as I posted, lulz.

I'll stick with safe acids, since I can't really use acids (had some BAADD experiences).

Thanks!
