Im looking for new pickups and i was thinkin either a set of EMG 81/85 or DiMarzio Air Norton and Tone Zone (its what Buckethead has so if its good enough for him). I play mostly metal, alternative and progressive.

All depends on preference; I personally would go with the DiMarzios but that's because I don't like EMGs. They're both perfectly good metal pickup sets.

I would ask at this point: what amp are you playing through? If the amp is not good enough you really won't notice the difference between those and the stock set in just about any guitar.

Buckethead uses two Super Distortions in his Les Pauls, but I hear the cleans from the SD's aren't pristine, so if you use cleans, i'd say an Air Norton in the neck and SD in the bridge.
