Okay not quite but the tip forefinger has been bothering me the last few days, (not the skin, I have callouses) but like underneath the finger at the bone. Its probably because I have to press hard on my acoustic strings to fret, especially on the c chord.

Should I stop for awhile? I keep saying I'll take a break and then I see my guitar on the stand asking me to play it, and I give in. It actually hurts a bit when I type too.

I think the title of this is misleading. Also, I'd stop playing for a bit, and if it hurts that bad put some ice on it or something.

hmm i think you should stop for a while, sounds like you've hurt it inside, i did that once to my foot running barefoot, painful and no obivous bruise, it just hurt when pressed on.

But when i started playing guitar i was 14 and i played an old ( 22 years ) Aria acoustic guitar, I really had to press play certain chords, my fingers didn't hurt though so i think it would be best to take a brake otherwise you might hurt it permently.

Pain is your body's way of saying there's something wrong. Stop for a while. Take it easier. Build finger strength gradually.

Damn, taking a few days off of playing sucks, but I suppose i should to be safe. It should stop hurting within 3 days or so I'd imagine.

can't wait til I get my electric then I won't have to worry about high tension strings

It happened to me when I first got my steel string. It's normal. Keep playing. But your fingers will get dry, so apply lotion. =P

Don't just stop until it just stops hurting. You still need to give it a few days after it has stopped hurting to finish healing. If you start playing and using it alot just as it stops hurting chances are you will just hurt it again and be up for a longer healing time. This is especially so for your fingers and hands because you use them so much that they often take a while to heal properly, and you use them for so many things that you really need them to heal quickly.

lol i was being dramatic with the title. It doesn't hurt /THAT/ much. I just feel a slight throb-like pain when i type. To be safe though i'll stop for awhile

edit: just found this too http://eeshop.unl.edu/text/tips.txt which is exactly my problem pretty much. dammit i hope its not a "bone bruise". i'm not about to stop playing for 2 weeks.. or months screw that

I'd keep playing.
You are like a hurricane
There's calm in your eye.
And I'm gettin' blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I'm getting blown away.

i'm having trouble not using it to type (i need to do my homework ) thus its still hurting as much as it did after playing for an hour yesterday (which isn't that much but enough to bother me when i type)

Try some alternate fingerings. Otherwise, I'd advise taking a break.
