Alright. I want to defret a bass.

The Bass

I have 2 questions

1. Is this a good bass to do it with?

2. And is it possible and would it sound good?

well, you can always get a frettless neck, so its not like you need to buy a different bass.

as for the guitar, im not sure how good it is, for $10 i think it is questionable, as to what wood it used and how quality it is.

I wouldn't trust that at all. For the effort, it's not worth the conversion on a cheaper bass, in my opinion (if only for practice, but you could just buy cheap necks for that). Commonly this is done on basses with set necks or through-necks, since there's practically no other option.

It's certainly possible, and I find that the tonal range is worth it for a certain sound. However, I only use my fretless for probably twenty songs, tops. Worth the time, since its my hobby, but it may not be for you.

Edit: why on earth did you create two threads on the same topic? We could have answered these questions in that same thread. Hope a mod finds this and merges it.
Sincerely, Chad.

Fretless necks cost much more than it takes to defret a bass. If you have another bass go for but intonation will be harder, there will be less sustain, and the tone will be a lot different. Also you might want to epoxy your fret board.

Sorry for making two... I couldnt remember if I made one yet or not. I have another bass, but i play guitar most of the time so it is just a hobby. I'm not worried about thoe guitar being amazing, because it'll be a project guitar anyway.

Thanks
