It's how you play a series of notes, so that you aren't just playing the notes one after the other, but actually making it sound like a piece of music. Try playing the intro to Voodoo Child (Slight Return) or something, and just playing the first note, then the second one etc. It only sounds like Voodoo Child when you phrase it correctly, with the right emphasis on the right notes etc.

Okay then... so I have a pretty big problem when it comes to soloing.

I tend to just run up and down crappy scales....
What exactly can I do to make it more interesting?

Slow down, and work on each note individually. Figure out the notes of the chords that you're playing over, and dwell on each of them as the chord plays (say on a backing track). See how each of them sounds, and what happens when you bend up from one to the other, what happens when you hammer on to the note two frets above etc.

I don't have acces to backing tracks...:S

But I see what you mean. I just think that I want to be able to play stuff that moves up and down the fret board insteand of just one scale per solo... on different octaves and stuff.

I thought phrasing was like.. when you hit a bunch of different notes on different scales.
