Alright so Im in this band. Its me (The lead guitarist), this alright drummer, and a guitarist that sucks. We were looking for a bassist and Ive found one, but here in lies the catch. This bassist is insane at guitar, heaps better than the original player. I asked the bad guitarist if he can switch to bass instead, and he refused on doing so, stating that he hates bass. He stated that we should alternate playing bass (The three of us) throughout the songs...(Even live)

What do you guys think about this situation

Go for it.

IIRC, Paul McCartney played lead guitar on "Helter Skelter" and numerous other Beatles tracks. Joe Perry plays a bass sometimes. Lots of bands do this.

Fire the sucky guitarist, get the bassist you found as the new non-sucky guitarist, then look for a new bassist. Chances are are that kid who sucks at guitar will want to be in the band so bad anyway that he will join back up after you get rid of him and play bass because he wants to be in a band so bad.

maybe the insane at guitar guy should be lead

No i'm not happy to see you

Kick the other guitarist out, have the bassist get a doubleneck(4-string bass/6 string electric) and there you go!
J/K, but what happens to the amazing bassist in this ordeal of alternating lineups?

You, sir, just won 10 awesome points.

Rhythm players unite!

Fire sucky guy.
Make bassist guitarist.
For now multi track with the Guitarist/Bassist.
Find new bassist (if he sucks tell the Bassist/Guitarist to make the basslines for him)
edit:
Dewey Finn was kicked out of his own band

Get rid of the guitarist, take the bassist in as BASS not guitar, and you learn to sing and play at the same time. There's your tripod; its all you need cuz as far as u've stated you dont have vocals and you're not a legit band if you dont have vocals. And dont give examples of bands who dont have any because those that dont are amazing at their instruments and use them to fill the void left by the voice. nuff said.

Gimme a bit. I'll try; it's pretty vintage - back when Ibanez still did strictly Gibson copies.
