That's like 380 USD... Yea great deal.

EDIT: Try the classic Crybaby with contour or Morley Bad Horsey. The best wah for funk rock might just be BuddaWah or Clyde but it all depends on your pickups and amp.

No wonder why Dream Theater came to Australia for their 999th show...

i would say that is a close call. i think i recognize the geographic and tax or whatever else challenges you mates have down there but accordinding to xe.com:

your $700AUD deal is worth $659 here in the States.

your guitar is a 2004 (the one you are looking to buy) +case

uummm....

really not sure here....

maybe if you offered him $550AUD without case i guess i would do it. MIM strat is not bad and i'm only guessing it is a better deal for you aussies than say an American Strat.? Value/Delta $ wise.

that guitar and case here in states is prolly $400. New one is $375 (US guitar only) but maybe not your color.

Really not trying to rub anything in here as i know this is a tough subject just giving you info.

It's a pretty good deal. Gear is more expensive here in Australia due to taxes and importing and whatnot. If I were you, I'd get it.

A friend of mine has the same guitar though its black and and it has the "60th anniversary" emblem behind the headstock, plays great and sound wicked, don't know about the price though, i try and buy my guitars oversees and get shipped over here even with the $140 shipping it's about half the price they sell them here and if i buy a hard case at the same time i don't need to worry about it being damaged in shipping.

I'd take it, although you could probably get an Epi Les Paul Standard for that money.

Not everyone likes epi's though.

Go for it TS.

The going price for an excellent and relatively new MIA is $450 - 600 and MIM is $250 - 400. Use that for you guide.

Thats pretty much useless to him. Read the thread properly.

Look, if he wants more than $650 for it, then I'd say no, you can buy a brand new current model mexi strat for $800.

There is no "set price" for second hand gear. The correct price is the one YOU are willing to pay.

Actually there is. There is a wholesale price that much of the gear trades for in excellent condition. IF you watch eBay for instance, you get a sense for what that range is. You can also use The Vintage Guitar Price Guide (get 2008) to also help, but I tend to find that this is more the offer side range as opposed to the bid side.

Saying there is no 'set price' may be technically accurate but like uses cars, they tend to center around a price depending on the model, year and milage. Then you adjust for options and wear and tear.

At least that is my experience.

yea but remember its not just the guitar its got a sweet black hardbound fender case with room for leads and stuff man im so torn whether or not to buy it

They sell strats here for a retail price of around $790 - $810 AUD, and hardcases are pretty expensive too. In my opinion, you're much better of purchasing one from ebay. I've seen countless MIM strats accompanied with hardcases that sell for around half or less the price this guy is asking.

And most if not all, seem to be in great working condition with minimal to no body or fret damage, and those that show the electronics appear to be wired up correct.

if you like it

and it is your color

and seems within range

buy it i guess. you can always resell it.

seems a bit rare color wise. it is def a 2004 so it does not have the latest upgrades. i think you need to stick with the aussie advice because if this was in the States, i wouldn't buy but you have diff economics down there. i voted by the way: Uncertain. sorry,....i know no help what so ever.

i hope it has american pups but that is another topic. my MIM has a humbucker that says Fender on the bottom of it but that doesn't mean it was make in US and shipped to Mexico.

good luck and let us know what you do...
