I'm looking for a particular tone that is hopefully possible in a S-S-H pickup configuration.

The tone I'm interested is dark and full. It should have a thick sound with kind of a warm growl.

I hope that was descriptive enough. Anyway, any suggestions?

EDIT:
Now that I think about, any equipment suggestions, including guitars, amps, pickups, effects, that will produce this tone are welcome.
The Setup:
Fender Standard Stratocaster
Crate GFX-30
Vox AD50VT

Buy a Laney amp, although a Peavey Valveking will probably pull it off. Ideally you'd want a mahogany guitar too, alder's kind of bright.
Actually called Mark!

If you get a darker-voiced tube amp it will do the trick.
