So I can get a Fender Hot Rod Deville for 400 used. The reason it's cheap is because the knobs don't turn very well, and the tolex is all torn up. But besides visually it is all good.

Or

A laney pro tube 50. It is pretty much basic used amp. Nothing noticable on it. 350 for it.

I'm playing a 2008 Fender MIA Strat, I use a TS9, DS1, Big Muff Pi and GE-7. I like alternative rock, think weezer, the offspring. to punk, alexisonfire, rise against. So which one would be better?

p.s. i plan on putting a hot rail in the strat soon if that makes a difference

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
