Just as a word of advice, put in some new pickups if you get the Epi, they have no treble, only bass and mids.
Current Gear:

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I have an Epi G-400 '66 reissue that I play through a Vox AD50VT, love it

play one of the ibanez artist series art-100, 300 , 400. the 300 and 400 have active pups. the 100 `s pups dont have alot of punch but they still sound really good. i just bought the arc-100, basically same as art-100. i`d put it up against an epi lp standard any time. price is 400 0r less for art -100....as is, this guitar rocks classic stuff like old ac/dc, old def-leppard.
epiphone gothic lp
ibanez arc-300
epiphone traditional pro lp

Both guitars are pretty versatile. BUT!

- Do you even need a tremelo? The Ibanez ZR system is great and all, but are you sure you need a double locking trem?
- How often do you plan on changing tunings? With the Ibanez, it's gonna be a pain in the ass to change it.
- Both guitars have **** pickups. But in this price range, you can't really complain. I highly advise you ignore pickups in both guitars and swap them out in the future.
- The S is a really thin guitar, light as hell. People complain about sustain on it due to the slim body, so keep that in mind.
- Epi China QC isn't super awesome, so I highly discourage buying online. Try in store!

Ibanez.

However I agree with the man above me, Try in store to avoid buying a guitar of ****ty quality.
Yeah, now you're gonna die wearing that stupid little hat. How does it feel?

Help me to live.

I make custom guitar wiring harnesses and I'm pretty damn good at it!

Ibanez S is great guitar. Can play all styles, if all pickups combos are used.
Will need new pickups for best sound.
