Lately I've been playing the games on my ipod during road trips, bus rides, etc and I was wanting to buy some more games but on the itunes store they cost 5 dollars and you have to register and all this blahblahblah.

So i was wondering if there are any sites or anything where I could download free ipod games and somehow get them on my ipod?

A good way to go (in my opinion) is rockbox. rockbox.org

Its free alternate firmware for some random mp3 players
Adds way more functionality, and lots of games!
I have it on my iriver, and I can play Doom before school starts haha.
So check it out. Other then that, I have no idea.

get an ipod touch .... I have a freaking PSX on it...I rarely play it and its very hard to play but seriously who can say they have a PSX on there iPod

aside from the PSX there are a ton of free and fun games once you have jailbroken your ipod including a few more emulators, Genesis, GBA, GBC, NES,

No no, it's entirely new firmware
And within the firmware it has all the games on it already
Theres a 'plugins' section with the games in it
You can also dual boot, so if you prefer the normal ipod firmware, if you're not playing a game you can switch back to that.
