im trying to decide between these three, but i can't. the RP 250 says it has a drum machine but the RP 350 doesn't mention one at all but i can't imagine it not having one. and someone said the 350 had less effects, is that true? and is the Boss better than both of them? any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Just buy single effects! Multi-Effects units are pretty bad- especially Digitech's line. Odds are, you don't need all the effects, so just buy single pedals of what you need.

In the RP-350 specs....

"High quality drum machine with 60 patterns"

If you think you might want a drum machine, then getting something like the RP-350 is a good deal. Everyone who's learning should be practicing with a drum machine.

Out of the 3 I would go for the Boss unit. But if you could find a used Gt-8 or Gt-6 that would be even better.

Not if he wants a drum machine. Practicing with a drum machine will do a lot more for your playing than a better fx unit. It really depends on where his priorities lie.

That's true. But keep in mind any computer can give you drums and loops. So decide what you want to use the effects unit for then check craigslist, ebay etc for new and used units to get the best deal.

If you can win one of these for $50 or under shipped then you will do well....

I've picked up a couple for about ~$50 just for practice. One for work and one for home. I also use a pedal board with separate pedals, but the drum machine in this unit is great fro practice. Also it sound pretty darn good when tweaked. I had a Boss GT-8 and sold it. The Wah on this 707 blows the wah on the GT-8 away.

If you put a 32MB Smart Media card in it, then it will hold about 8 min of backing tracks.
