I have a Squier jagmaster, I love it. I was thinking about gettin new pickups and a bridge, but then I decided I want a brand new guitar. Iv'e been getting into alot of Buckethead type stuff. I was looking into a Yamaha AES620. I never tried it or heard about it. Is it good? I heard it was a top rated guitar in Guitar player magazine. heres a link from the site.

If not, I will take any suggestions. I can only spend up to maybe $650, but I kinda want something cheaper around $400-$450, Because then I can buy pickups if needed. Any questions ask me! thnx.

I looked into that exact guitar not long ago. Yamaha makes solid instruments, but they're often overlooked. If you're not obsessed with perfect tone (which many believe is a crime), Yamaha has decent stock pickups with decent tone.

Do you have any preference in regards to a fixed or floating trem? Maybe I'm going out on a limb, but you could look into some midrange Ibanez or Schecter guitars. I don't get the chance to mess around guitar shops that much, so I'm not too fluent in this kind of thing. Hope I helped.

This did help. I'm really just looking for an amazing guitar for a decent price around $400-500. Something being a step up or two from my jagmaster

Im looking for a good "shred" guitar, like fast moving necks? I'm not good at it yet, but I play like buckethead stuff, and it seems like an easy keyword for the type of guitar i want.

I was looking into this for awhile. I really liked the feel of it, but you're gonna want new pickups.

This one isn't too bad either. http://ibanez.com/eg/guitar.aspx?m=RG350MDX

I'm biased, but the Ibanez is what you want. Drop a killswitch in and some new pups and you'll have yourself a nice axe. I would suggest a Di-Marzio Blaze in the bridge and a D-sonic in the bridge. Not too familiar with single coils though...

I would, the AES series are great for the price they feel good and sound good. \i use the AES420 with emg 81/60 combo and it sounds fantastic.
Too much equipment to write down...
