So here is my situation. I own an Ibanez rg350dx with h/s/h style pickups. Im looking for a change. Im thinking im just gonna leave the single coil stock but replace the humbuckers. Now, my problem is that i want that kind of tone that Joe Satriani achieves playing live and a pickup that will turn a sustained note into a nice harmony sound. Yet im all for metal and heavy f**king stuff like pantera and those killer artificial harmonics. Im having some trouble finding a good bridge/neck combo. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I know JS uses Dimarzio pickups. Not sure of what type though. Seymour Duncan pickups are really good for that range of tone aswell.

a dimebucker for your metal, and a dimarzio for the JS?

Yeah ive read review after review on Dimarzio PAF pro's and pickups of the sort. I kind of figured that the pair should complement each other. But if i buy a pickup purely for metal, whack it in the bridge and one purely for satch type lead sound and whack it in the neck prehaps thats my best bet?
