why not just play a bass?
.
..
...
I have no opinion on this matter.

I play in Drop-Fail. I tune the lowest string to be the same pitch as your failed thread....NO I'm just joking.....Drop D is as low as I go. Actually, I prefer standard tuning.

uhhh with a 6 string i put it into 7 string tuning B,E,A,D,G,B and Drop A which ever one is lower.

but when i get a 7 string im gonna tune it to Drop G#.
#10
well Stoner, i take the E string on my POS warlock and lower it until it's an e again. no bass strings needed. it kinda flops around a bit tho. its almost pointless, but u can get a REAL heavy tone. almost retarded tho.

soo stupid, dropping down a whole octave on a guitar. anyway, standard d is heavy enough for me, although i'm mainly either standard or a 1/2 step down.

wow.
that does sound retarded. retard.

anyways, this is why they build EXTENDED RANGE GUITARS

but on my 6 string the lowest i go is drop C
and on my 7 string the lowest i've done is double dropped D
and i have yet to change tuning on my 10 string
#14
Drop D.

I don't play any really heavy metal, so I don't feel a need to drop-tune too far.

Only the most br00tuhl players use the drop-Z tuning. No, not the drop-Z you're thinking of, the octave lower.

The last time i used that drop-Z i killed my neighbours cat.

Meshuggah's ''Bleed'' is in D# standard an octave lower.

I have a 7string tuned to to F with 10- 67 guages.

Just think what you could have done if you'd played it through a <insert FOTM metal amp here> stack.

Hm. I guess the lowest I've ever used is C standard. Or Drop A#.
But with .09 gauge strings, its really not the most advisable thing on the planet.

Yea becuase only Bullet play Drop C

It was the first thing that bame to mind.
And if REAL men tune to Drop C, BFMV give it a pretty bad name. (Don't get me wrong, I like bullet, just there are much better bands out there)

Edit:

C when I'm in a mood for Bullet. Otherwise just drop D.

This just proves my point.

all 3 of my electrics are tuned: standard, down 1/2 step, standard drop d.

I use a whammy pedal down a 2nd on my drop d guitar to get to drop d down a whole step, sept thats only for SOAD, other than that those 3 fit just about everything, even though i retune the low e on my 1/2 step down guitar to d for certain songs.
#29
The lowest I've tuned in general is G# on a 7 string, just to hear that low G# and to mess around.

But, on a 6 string, the lowest I've went is Drop A, mostly because I was in B standard and wanted to experiment around in the tuning.

I've thought about going to Drop E (playing it Sunn O))) style), but I need new strings before I attempt that.

I tune as low as A on bass. I'd like to get a 6er and tune it to E B E A D G, but I'd need a new speaker cab I guess. The lowest I tune on guitar is drop A.

*Slaps* DO NOT DROP TUNE A BASS.

Drop A on a 6 string bass, sometimes two whole steps, but only in ridiculous situations.

Though, I don't touch the C.

I'd hate for someone to try and tab my stuff.
