ok, so ive had a lisp forever and i havent really cared about it at all until about 7 hours ago when i was a video i was interviewed in and my voice sounded SOOOO stupid with my lisp and such

so does anyone have any good ideas on how to get rid of them? ive been singing along to peace sells with my mouth closed because ive heard that helps, but does anyone have any other ideas?

also, while i brought up the hearing your own voice thing, does your own voice sound really weird to you when you hear it on a recording or something?

Its not that recordings make it weird, its that you hear yourself differently than everyone else does. Not to sure about fixing a lisp though

If by "clean" you mean "get a finger right up in there and do a good bit of spelunking" then i guess "at any given opportunity" is my answer.

I had a lisp, it just takes a lot of correction. I hope you don't expect me, or anyone else with a lisp to help you over the internet.

1st Q: I have no idea what you're talking about
2nd Q: I hate my voice when I hear it from a recording (as do most people)

if you cup your hands around your ears (as to hear more clearly, not cover them up) and you talk, apparently you actually hear yourself the way others hear you

and the lisp thing?
well, i don't know, sorry bud

Yes, your voice will sound differently to yourself in person, then on a recording/to other people.

Think about it, its just physics. The soundwaves made by your voice must bounce off something, and then come back. Whereas for someone else, your voicewaves come straight at them.
Actually thats bull**** I just made up.

The real reason has to do with the fact that your voice and sound in general is made by vibrations. When you speak, you are vibrating more than just air, you are also vibrating literally your body. Think of you body like a giant tuning fork. Therefore, when you speak, the vibrations of your lungs and bones changes the tone that you hear. Other people aren't attached to you, so they don't get the same vibrations, ergo different tone.

On a side note, your voice on the phone will sound different not only to you, but to everyone else.

there is no wrong reason to play a guitar, except for world enslavement and extermination of certain races, but those guys never make it big anyway.

I know theres professional people that help movie stars and such get rid of accents, they could probobly help with lisps, just not sure on how much it would cost.

EDIT: Just try practicing saying words with an s rather than a "th". It involves less use of the tongue, so it should be easier to say it without the lisp after a bit of practice.

TS, a lisp can generally at least be helped, if not fully corrected, by purposefully holding one's tongue in. A lisp is caused by the tongue naturally being stuck too far out during speech. If you can control your tongue while talking, eventually you will reprogram the part of your brain that is responsible for speech and not even have to worry about the lisp anymore.

And yes, my voice sounds very odd to me when I listen to a recording of it. Speaking, singing, or otherwise.

Don't get rid of it. Women seem to love guys with lisps. And I must admit.. I wouldn't say no to a guy with a lisp.
