Jesus, I could install a Floyd Rose on your mum.

Yes, you could install a recessed trem on your Explorer, if you wanted to.

do you have any suggestions to which trem would work best for that guitar?

Just buy a Floyd Rose Kit, it'll have all the stuff you need to install it and instructions (obviously).

If you're going to do it, make sure that you spend enough money. Be careful to avoid cheap Licenced Floyd Rose systems, as they'll have you tearing your balls out within minutes. Also, if you're worried about the depth of your body and routing, you could look into Kahler trems.

Right, and now a serious problem:

The EX-260 has a Tune-O-Matic bridge, which is NOT recessed, so my guess would be that it has a larger neck angle than a guitar designed for a Floyd. You'll still be fine to route and mount a recessed Floyd on it, but you'll have to raise the pivot posts quite high to stop the strings fretting out at the top end. It'll still work, but IMHO it'll look naff, and you might get worse sustain.

Anyway, wait for someone with more trem knowledge to come in before doing anything.
