disregard all of this if someone else gives u better advice but in my humble oppinion.

i would get an esp, aim for around the 400 series i think it is that has the emg pickups, mebby the ex or ax series or i love their v shaped ones.

i would recomend avoiding begginer guitars and going for something a bit more intermediate as if you decide to sell it on you will get a reasonable ammount of money back mostly if it is kept well and you wil have a better instrument and not need to upgrade straight away. there is also less likely to go wrong with a higher end guitar.

again. . .go with the esp they play amazingly. look great. and sound great.

hope i helped. . . . / wasnt wrong :P

I'm an Ibanez fan boy, so id go for one of these.
Both are great for Metal and have fixed bridges, so they are very easy to play and maintain, and they pretty nicely priced.
Defenatly try one out if you can.

P.S. I also have the RG2EX1 and I love it.

if you want to play like a pro you gotta play a pro guitar. (kind of a joke but kind of not)

Do you have a budget to work with?

Generally, the amp makes up most of your tone, so you could have a really **** guitar but a great amp, and still sound great. Most metal require high gain amps which are a pain in the ass to get a low budgets but because you're a beginner, I don't think you'll be really bothered by not having super tone.

Check out

- Ibanez RG321MH
- Ibanez ART120 (I think)
- Roland Cube 30 / Microcube
- Vox AD30VTXL

i had a look at the esp 400's and they sound pretty nice, but how do they compare to bc rich warbeast (i really like the warbeast)

esp is neck thru which means better sustain and better upper fret acces, meaning easier solos etc.
wasbeast has bc rich in house pickups esp has higher end pickups that a high percentage of metal players use, chances are esp wil have better wood and neck shapes but thats preference.

to put it in more easily understandable terms. . . . its like comparing a mazda mx-5 to a bmw z4.
they are both roughly the same but the more expensive one has more when you know what to look for. same with the higher end ibanezes, i just happen to really like esp guitars and ahve no experience with ibanez so am sticking with what i know, as an afterthought you could also look at jacksons they have some great guitars.
or perhaps dean but i would rather be beaten to death by one than play it thanks to the haedstock *violently spews :P*

In a word...no. There's so much crap in this thread it's not even funny

TS, it doesn't really matter what you get to start with, you can learn on any guitar. Don't get an LTD or a Bc Rich because their cheap guitars are appalling, it's only once you get close to the $500 mark that they're really worth considering. It doesn't matter that you want to play metal, you're still going to have to learn to play the guitar first.

Squier Stratocaster or Telecaster
Yamaha Pacifica 112
Ibanez RG321

They're all decent guitars that'll last a while and easily see you through your beginner years. For an amp you can't really go wrong with the Roland Microcube for your first amp.

There's no point spending too much at the beginning, you don't even know if you're going to stick with it but also you don't have enough experience to make a long term decision with regards to equipment.
